Rajesh Ranjan (born 24 December 1967), better known as Pappu Yadav (popular name 'Netajee'), is a politician.[1][2] He won elections to the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Parliament of India) in 1991, 1996, 1999, and in 2004 from several constituencies in Bihar as an Independent / SP / Lok Janata Party / RJD candidate. Pappu Yadav became one of the 'best performing' MPs in 2015[3] Pappu Yadav is currently the leader of Jan Adhikar Party.(L).[4]

Pappu Yadav defeated Sharad Yadav in the 2014 general elections.[5] His wife Ranjeet Ranjan, was MP from Supaul but lost to JD(U) in 2019 General Election, is a Congress leader.[6] In July 2015, His son is Cricketer, who is player of Delhi Team. Pappu Yadav was given 'Y' category security by the Union Home Ministry.[7][8] In 2015 Bihar elections he formed his own party, Jan Adhikar party and contested at 40 seats. His party failed to make any impact and could barely capture 2 percent of the votes it wished do capture.[9]

Life[edit]

Pappu Yadav was born on 24 December 1967 in a Landlord family in Khurda Karveli village, Kumar Khand, Bihar. He started school education in Anand Marg School, Anand Palli, Supoul. He completed graduation in Political Science from B N Mandal University, Madhepura. He did Diploma in Disaster Management and Human Rights from IGNOU. Rajesh Ranjan is his official name but nickname Pappu was given by his Grand Father in childhood. He is married to Ranjeet Ranjan. He is a Member of Parliament from Madhepura. His son's name is Sarthak Ranjan[10][circular reference] who is player of T20.

He was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly from Singheshwarsthan, Madhepura in 1990 as an independent candidate, and in 1991 he contested and won through to the 10th Lok Sabha from Purnia. He was at various times a member of RJD, the Samajwadi Party and the Lok Janshakti Party.

On 7 May 2015, the RJD expelled Rajesh Ranjan for years due to anti-RJD activities after that he founded new party Jan Adhikar Party.[11]

On 9 May 2015, Pappu Yadav floated a new party Jan Adhikar Party before the elections.[12][13][14][15][16] Pappu Yadav campaigned against Nitish-Lalu alliance.[17]Jan Adhikar Party is fighting on 64 seats as part of Socialist Secular Morcha in 2015 Bihar Legislative Assembly election.[18] He won best member of parliament award also.

2009 Lok Sabha elections[edit]

On 2 April 2009, the Patna High Court rejected Yadav's plea to be allowed to contest the 2009 Indian parliamentary elections because he had been convicted for murder. On 11 April, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled Pappu Yadav from the party. His mother Shanti Priya, who was a candidate from Purnia, also lost to Uday Singh of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

2010 Bihar elections[edit]

During 2010 Bihar Vidhan Sabha elections Pappu Yadav along with Anil Yadav and Rampravesh Rai were expelled from the RJD for alleged anti-party activity. They were charged with working against the party's official nominee for Fatua assembly constituency, Ramanand Yadav.

Controversies[edit]

In his autobiography Drohkaal ka Pathik, released in November 2013, Pappu Yadav has alleged that three MPs of his Indian Federal Democratic Party got money from the then finance minister Yashwant Sinha, to join the NDA in 2001. He has also claimed that during the July 2008 trust vote, both the Congress and BJP had offered 'Rs 400 million each' to MPs for their support.[19]

Ranjan (Yadav) had to spent years in jail in Ajit Sarkar murder case.[20] He was acquitted in 2013 from Patna high court.[21][22]

Chimpui (チンプイ, Chinpui) is a Japanese manga created by Fujiko F. Fujio in 1985. It tells the story of two cute aliens that come to Earth to find the girl who will marry their prince of planet Mahl and find one in a preteen named Eri. It was subsequently adapted into an anime television series.

Characters[edit]

  • Chimpui (チンプイ), a mouse-like alien, who tells about the prince's marriage to a girl named Eri. Sometimes he tries to convince Eri to marry the prince and helps Eri on Earth or while on Mahl. He is voiced by Junko Hori[1]
  • Eri Kasugi (春日エリ), a 12-year-old Chinese-Japanese[2] girl, who is a tomboy and also Chimpui best friend. She is the counterpart to both Nobita Nobi and Shizuka Minamoto. She is voiced by Megumi Hayashibara.[1]
  • Wanderyu (ワンダユウ), a dog-like alien, who is Chimpui's pal. He also helps Eri, but sometimes she hates him. Eri calls him 'Grandpa Wada'. He is voiced by Jōji Yanami.[1]
  • Uchiki (内木), a weak-clever boy, he is Eri's very best friend. Eri has a crush on him. He is voiced by Sasaki Nozomu.[1]
  • Sunemi (スネ美), she is female verson of Suneo in Doraemon
  • Oeyama (大江山), like Takeshi Goda (Big G) in Doraemon, he bullies Uchiki. voiced by Daiki Nakamura.[1]
  • Shosei (小政), voiced by Jun'ichi Kanemaru.[1]
  • Prince Lulealv, his face is never shown in the manga or anime. Chimpui tells Eri that he is the most charming person on planet Mahl. It is also told that it is Eri's fate to marry him. He only appears in Eri's dreams (nightmares).

Anime television series[edit]

The series was first broadcast by TV Asahi from November 2, 1989 to April 18, 1991 and was broadcast across Asia in English via Disney Channel Asia.[3][4] The anime is available on Amazon Video in India in Hindi.[5]
